I have heard it said, “Be careful what you pray.”
But why I ask, should I be so careful? Shall I not pray all that our Lord Jesus Himself also prayed. If He was so careful, doesn’t this only show that He did not trust His Father to lead Him back to Himself?
Do we not seek HIS FULLNESS, and all that He is wanting to give? Why ask for anything less??
Besides, I know I can take comfort in this…
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. – 1Co 10:13
He WILL NOT tempt me beyond that which I am able to bear. Could He? Of course He could, but He chooses not to, because my Father wants me to win, to succeed in this life so that I may reign and live with Him forever. He makes the way, and proves me to be able to bear and handle it.
The love of the Father is beyond what we could even hope or even imagine.
Like Job and the Psalmist (and every other prophet since Job)…I say..”Who can..?”
He can…and is able..
and more importantly…He will…
and is faithful to keep that which we have committed to Him.
Committing a life unto Him to become nothing less than to become eternally saved and sanctified, will result in nothing less than a saved and sanctified life. It’s only when we choose to seek other things in this life that fear and defeat take place.
